The two-day event hosted by the Eagles will take place Dec. 2-3

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team closes out the 2016 portion of the schedule this weekend, Dec. 2-3, as host of the EMU Invitational at Jones Natatorium.

Over the past 10 years, the Eagles have never finished lower than second at the annual event, claiming the top spot three times since the 2005-06 season. The Green and White have won back-to-back EMU Invitationals for the first time in a decade, most recently posting 1,230 points to earn the win last season. EMU bested second-place finisher Wayne State by nearly 300 points in a dominating showing by Eastern Michigan that included first-place marks by more than a dozen Eagles.

This season, Eastern will square off against Ashland, Tiffin, and Wayne State.

Behind a balanced performance in the pool and a sensational performance on the springboard, EMU enters the weekend after having claimed its fourth consecutive dual victory of the season, Nov. 12. The Eagles swept four events, including the top-five spots on both the 1 and 3-meter dives to earn a 193-104 victory on the road over Oakland. Junior Alli Shereda (Fraser, Mich.-Fraser) won both springboard events, while nine different Eagles added one win each.

Action at the EMU Invitational is slated to begin at 3 p.m., Dec. 2, inside Jones Natatorium. Live results can be found here, while fans can also follow along on the MeetMobile app.
