EMU Falls in Final Road Match of 2016

Three Eagles grabbed double-digit kill performances

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team dropped its final road contest of the 2016 campaign Saturday, Nov. 5, when it fell on the road at Western Michigan University. The Eagles (8-19, 3-11 MAC) took set two, but eventually fell in four sets, 25-21, 23-25, 30-28, 25-22, to close out their final road trip of the year.

Devon Murray (Shelby, Ohio-Shelby) led the EMU offense by hitting .517, while racking up 16 kills in the setback. Jordan Smith (Solon, Iowa-Solon) and Alysa Sutton (Gaston, Ind.-Wes-Del) each contributed solid offensive performances with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Riley Taylor (Indianapolis, Ind.-Perry Meridian) and Mallory Rajewski (Midland, Mich.-Midland) posted 31 and 20 assists, while Taylor notched a career-best 21 digs and Alyssa LaFace (Allen Park, Mich.-Allen Park) net a career-high of 30 digs.

The Eagles return to action Thursday, Nov. 10, when they host Central Michigan University for a 7 p.m. match at the Convocation Center. The match is a beach party where EMU will host a cash bar and games in the atrium prior to the contest, beginning at 6 p.m.
