Men's Track & Field Announces Indoor 2016-17 Schedule

The Eagles will play host to the 2017 Indoor MAC Championships
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Head Coach John Goodridge of the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team announced the team's 2016-17 indoor season schedule today, Nov. 29. Eastern will compete in a total of 10 regular season meets before hosting the 2016 Indoor Mid-American Conference Championships.
The Eagles will begin this Friday, Dec. 2, with the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Mich. This marks the third straight season in which the Green and White will compete at the meet to kick off the season. Eastern will also take part in the Findlay Oiler Open one week later, Friday, Dec. 9, in Findlay, Ohio.
Following the holiday break, EMU resumes action at the Simmons Harvey Invitational, Saturday, Jan. 14, down the road in Ann Arbor. Two weeks later, the Eagles will host the annual EMU Triangular, Saturday, Jan. 28, in Bowen Fieldhouse.
Up next, Eastern treks to South Bend, Ind. for the prestigious Meyo Invitational, Feb. 3-4. The meet will provide the Eagles with some stiff competition, as many of the nation's best teams will likely be in attendance. EMU then travels back to Allendale, Mich. for the GVSU Big Meet, Feb. 10-11. Within that same timeframe, some of the team will also attend the Iowa State Classic, Feb. 10-11, while others will go to the SPIRE Invitational, Feb. 10-11, in Geneva, Ohio.
The Eagles will split up again the next week, as some team members will comepte at the Alex Wilson Invitational, Feb. 18, in South Bend, while others will partake in the Silverston Invitational, Feb. 18, back in Ann Arbor. With that, the Green and White's regular season will come to an end.
The postseason begins with the Indoor MAC Championships, which will be hosted by the Eagles in Ypsilanti. This marks the first time since 2013 that EMU has hosted the event. Finally, the indoor season will conclude with the NCAA Indoor Championships, March 10-11, in College Station, Texas.
The team's outdoor season will be released at a later date.
