The 2016 MAC Champions will look to defend both their indoor and outdoor MAC titles
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Sue Parks, head coach of the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team, announced the team's 2016-17 schedule today, Nov. 28. The Eagles will compete in eight regular season indoor meets before hosting the 2017 Mid-American Conference Championships. The squad will then take part in 11 outdoor meets before the postseason begins in Kalamazoo, Mich.
"We're excited about our 2016-2017 schedule," stated Head Coach Sue Parks. "During the indoor season, we run a lot of traditional away meets, but it will be great to compete at home at the end of January in preparation for the MAC Championship in Bowen Field House on February 24-25. We will travel more during the outdoor season and we're excited to return to the Tennessee Relays in April after a year away. We feel that this schedule will prepare us for both the conference championships and NCAA competition."
The Eagles will kick off the regular season with the GVSU Holiday Open this Friday, Dec. 2, in Allendale, Mich. for the second straight year. The meet will provide the Eagles with an early opportunity to gauge where they stand before the meat of the indoor season begins in January.
