Getting to Know the EMU Gymnastics Freshmen: Allison Smith

Before the season begins, learn about each of the three EMU freshmen
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's gymnastics team kicks off their season in just a few weeks with an exhibition against the University of Michigan, Saturday, Dec. 10. Each week for the next three weeks prior to the exhibition, a new Eagle will sit down and answer a few questions related to their experience at EMU so far, as well as some fun facts. This week, freshman Allison Smith (Telford, Pa. - Souderton) offered her thoughts.
Q: How did you get involved in gymnastics?
A: My mom did gymnastics too, so when she saw me doing cartwheels at my brother's baseball game, she registered me for classes.
Q: What has your experience at EMU been like so far?
A: It has been awesome! The coaches and team are so encouraging, and I like it a lot better than club. There is so much more energy at practice and everyone is helping us make the transition as easy as possible.
Q: What has been the biggest adjustment within your first few months at EMU?
A: The biggest adjustment for me has been being away from home. Coming from Pennsylvania, it took me nine hours to get here. It's been hard not seeing my friends and family for three months, but the team has helped me get my mind off of it.
Q: What meet are you most looking forward to this season?
A: I'm looking forward to our meet at West Virginia because my friends, family, and old teammates are coming!

A: Vault
Q: Favorite TV show?
A: Grey's Anatomy
Q: Favorite activity outside of gymnastics?
A: Spending time with friends and family
Q: Ideal vacation spot?
A: Hawaii
Q: Favorite professional sports team?
A: Pittsburgh Steelers
Q: Ideal future career?
A: OR Nurse
