AUSTIN, Texas (EMUEagles.com) — Just over a week after Eastern Michigan University Head Softball Coach Melissa Gentile announced the Eagles' 2017 recruiting class, the group received recognition in FloSoftball's College Recruiting Class rankings, Nov. 21.
The Green and White inked Kiara Hurley (Maumee, Ohio-Maumee), Lauren Holdsworth (Howell, Mich.-Ladywood), Casey Skeens (Poca, W. Va.-Poca), Sophia Holland (Lugoff, S.C.-Lugoff-Elgin), and Cassandra Perez-Ramirez (Colton, Calif.-Colton), Nov. 9.
Together, the group makes up the top class in the Mid-American Conference according to FloSoftball. Slotted 62nd overall, the Eagles come in just behind Baylor and ahead of Palm Beach Atlantic and Minnesota. EMU is one of two MAC schools listed in the rankings, as Toledo comes in at No. 70.
"I am excited for this talented group to join us, as they all bring something different to the table," Gentile said. "This group, along with one other athlete that we are unable to announce at this time, will help continue to drive EMU softball towards a MAC Championship. This group has speed, it has power, it has athleticism, and they are all strong in the classroom as well."
Eastern Michigan begins the 2017 season in February. A full release of the schedule will be announced on EMUEagles.com at a later date.
