CLARION, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University wrestling team continues its 2016-17 schedule when it heads to Pennsylvania to take on the Clarion Golden Eagles, Friday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. Following that, they travel to the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, to compete in the Keystone Classic.

The dual can be tracked live on Twitter by following @EMUWrestling. A live stream will also be available at CarionGoldenEagles.com. Full results can be found on TrackWrestling.com. Links are on the schedule page of EMUEagles.com.

GAUGING THE GOLDEN EAGLES: The Eagles and Golden Eagles have squared off every season since 2005-06, with the series sitting at 7-3-1 in favor of EMU over that span. Last season, Eastern hosted Clarion during the EMU duals, topping the Golden Eagles 28-12.

SCOUTING CLARION: Clarion University has wrestled in dual action twice already this season, falling to Campbell, 28-12, and American, 27-11. They have one grappler appearing in the national rankings, as 141-pounder. Brock Zacherl is pegged at No. 14 by InterMat.

LAST SEASON VS. CLARION: EMU won six-of-ten bouts, with five of the matches earning bonus points for the Eagles, on its way to the 28-12 season-opening win. Five of the six match winners return for EMU this season, with redshirt sophomore Armando Torres, redshirt junior Gage Hutchison, and redshirt seniors Nick Barber, Devan Marry, and Jacob Davis potentially starting for EMU in the dual.

LAST SEASON AT KEYSTONE CLASSIC: The Eagles placed five wrestlers, all in the top four, including Anthony Abro, who took the title at 197.

In addition to Abro, the Green and White had Nick Barber finish second at 149, Vincent Pizzuto finish third at 125 in his season debut, and Dakota Juarez and Jacob Davis finish in fourth at 165 and 174, respectively.

EMU sent 14 grapplers on the mats throughout the day, garnering a total of 28 victories.  In all, the Eagles totaled 92.5 points, good for a team finish of fourth place out of eleven teams.

IMPRESSIVE DEBUTS: Eastern had four redshirt freshmen make their EMU dual debuts against Olivet, Nov. 11. Noah Gonser and Sa'Derian Perry both recorded falls in the dual, while David Kasper notched a major decision and J.J. Wolfe won an 8-5 decision.

MOVING UP THE RECORD BOOK: Redshirt senior Nick Barber has 66 career victories in his EMU career, which ranks tied for 16th on the all-time list with Doug Wiler. Recent EMU Hall of Fame inductee Steve Brown holds the all-time record with 117 wins. Barber trails Andrew Novak by just one win for 15th all-time.

UP NEXT ON THE MATS: Following the weekend in Pennsylvania, Eastern has a little time off before heading to the Cliff Keen Tournament, Dec. 2-3. The two-day tournament will take place in Las Vegas.
