Eagles Set to Host Annual EMU Fall Classic in October

The EMU cross country teams will be hosting their annual race near the end of October
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's and women's cross country teams will host their annual EMU Fall Classic event, Friday, Oct. 21, at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich. In addition to the meet, there will also be a celebration to honor the 1966 men's cross country NAIA National Champions upon completion of the race.
The 5,000-meter race will kick off with the women starting at 4:30 p.m., and the men following shortly after at 5 p.m. The 5,000-meter course is primarily grass field with a forest dirt trail, and a few rolling hills.
The meet is open to university runners, unattached collegians, and post-collegiate athletes. No high school athletes will be allowed to partake in the race. Unlimited team entries are allowed, and there will be no team scoring.
Direct Athletics will be utilized for the meet entry process, with the meet being searchable under 'EMU Fall Classic.' The entry fee for the meet is $10 per athlete. Checks can be made payable to 'EMU Cross Country.' The entry fees may be paid at the meet itself. Additionally, there is a $10 parking fee. The deadline for entry to the race is 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19.
Water coolers will be located near the finish line, and EMU sports medicine will be in attendance. No modalities will be available on site. Park restrooms are open for use, however no showers will be available.
Hudson Mills Metropark is located on North Territorial Road in Dexter, Mich. The 1966 team celebration will take place at the park once the men's race concludes.
