McDermitt Garners Third MAC Runner of the Week Honor of the Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Mid-American Conference announced today, Oct. 4, that No. 16 Eastern Michigan University women's cross country junior Jordann McDermitt (Davison, Mich. - Davison) was named the MAC Runner of the Week for her performance at the Notre Dame Invitational, Sept. 30.
McDermitt continued her fantastic season for the Eagles this past weekend, leading the team to a third-place finish at the Notre Dame Invite. McDermitt was vital in Eastern's victory over a slew of ranked teams, including defending NCAA Champion No. 2 New Mexico. Following the race, the Eagles jumped to No. 16 in the national rankings, the first time since 1996 that the team has been ranked.
Specifically, the Davison, Mich. native crossed the finish line with a career-best time of 16:33.1, which was good for seventh. Her time was also a personal-best by nearly 24 seconds. The honor is the third for McDermitt this season, as well as throughout her career.
McDermitt and the Eagles resume action in two weeks, heading to Terre Haute, Ind. for the Pre-National Invitational, Oct. 15.
