Bentzley Claims First MAC Runner of the Week Honor of her Career

The honor marks the fifth time this season that an EMU harrier has claimed the award

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Mid-American Conference announced today, Oct. 25, that No. 14 Eastern Michigan University women's cross country junior Danielle Bentzley (Birmingham, Mich. - Seaholm) was named the MAC Runner of the Week for her performance at the EMU Fall Classic, Oct. 21.

Bentzley turned in a very strong race at the Eagles' annual 5,000-meter event. The Birmingham, Mich. native was the team's lead harrier throughout the entire race, holding strong near the front of the pack. Ultimately, Bentzley crossed the finish line in 19th-place with a time of 18:31.2. The honor marks the first of her career, and the fifth for the Eagles so far this season.

Bentzley and the Green and White now turn their attention to the postseason, as they will next head to the Mid-American Conference Championships, Oct. 29. Action from Kent, Ohio is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with the women's race, follwed by the men at noon.
