EMU Basketball to Host First Ever "Crash the Convo"

The event formerly known as "Rock the Rec" will move to the Convocation Center
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics will be hosting the first-ever 'Crash the Convo' pep rally, the event is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Convocation Center. With basketball season just around the corner, the pep rally is designed to encourage school spirit leading into the men's and women's 2016-17 campaign. In addition to the exciting Crash the Convo events, EMU will be hosting an intramural basketball tournament on the main Convo floor.
"I'm excited fan interest and support has grown for both basketball programs," stated Sixth-Year Head Men's Basketball Coach Rob Murphy. "We believed moving this event to the Convo would enhance the overall excitement and enjoyment for our student-athletes, fans and community."
The Crash the Convo events will begin at 7:30 p.m. while doors to the Convocation Center will open at 6:30 p.m. Team introductions are expected to run until 7:45 p.m. The event will feature a short scrimmage by the men's basketball team, along with a shooting skills competition between men's and women's student-athletes, a dunk contest between the men's basketball players, and special performances from both the cheerleading squad and the dance team. Students will be provided free food in the atrium while EMU Credit Union will be in attendance to distribute fun giveaways to all EMU students in attendance.

"Everyone will get to see ours players skill and individual personalities. It will be a great event both for our student-athletes and the crowd in attendance. I can't wait to see everyone there."
