Tosh Kawaguchi Named MAC Swimmer of the Week

The sophomore became the first Eagle to earn the honor this season
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Sophomore swimmer Tosh Kawaguchi (Cary, N.C.-Cary) was named Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week for the period ending Oct. 16, the league office announced today, Oct. 20. The conference's announcement marks the first time Kawaguchi has earned the award in his career.
The Cary, N.C. native led the Green and White in its season opener against Northwestern, Oct. 14, posting a trio of top-three finishes. Kawaguchi swept the backstroke events against the Wildcats for the second consecutive season, and added a second-place finish in the 200 IM in EMU's season opener.
Garnering the league honor, Kawaguchi becomes the Eagles' first awardwinner since Hunter Cook was named MAC Swimmer of the Week, Feb. 16, 2016.
Kawaguchi and the Eagles continue the season this weekend, Oct. 22, at home against Denison. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Jones Natatorium.
