McDermitt Nabs Fourth MAC Runner of the Week Honor of the Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Mid-American Conference announced today, Oct. 18, that No. 14 Eastern Michigan University women's cross country junior Jordann McDermitt (Davison, Mich. - Davison) was named the MAC Runner of the Week for her performance at the Pre-Nationals Invitational, Oct. 15.
Like she's done all season, McDermitt excelled on the national stage, helping the Eagles to a seventh-place finish at the meet with a total of 255 points. The Green and White once again beat a ranked team, as then No. 22 Virginia fell to EMU. Additionally, the team was also able to defeat a number of teams receiving votes in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) coaches' poll.
Specifically, the Davison, Mich. native crossed the finish line with a career-best time of 20:32.0, which was good for 18th. Her time was also a personal-best by nearly 10 seconds. The honor is the fourth for McDermitt this season, as well as throughout her career.
McDermitt and the Eagles conclude the regular season this week with the annual EMU Fall Classic, Friday, Oct. 21. The women will kick off their race at 4:30 p.m., with the men to follow at 5 p.m.
