The redshirt junior is back after missing last season due to injury
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – With a scrimmage against the University of Detroit-Mercy just two days away, the Eastern Michigan University soccer team continues training for the upcoming 2014 season. To get Eagles fans excited about the upcoming season, redshirt junior Jenna O'Dell (Troy, Mich.-Athens) joins Eagle All-Access for another edition of EMU Soccer "Getting to Know an Eagle" of 2014.
Although she holds the academic standard of a senior, O'Dell enters the 2014 campaign as a redshirt junior after missing last season due to injury. This season, she is ready to return to compete with Megan McCabe (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Prospect) for the starting job in goal for the Green and White, a position she held during the 2012 season.
In 2012, her first season as an Eagle after transferring from Iowa State, O'Dell posted a 8-6-2 record between the posts. The Troy, Mich. native made the second-most saves in the Mid-American Conference with 90, holding a .811 save percentage and a 1.32 goals against average. O'Dell kept opponents off the scoreboard with five shutouts, and she earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors, Sept. 30.
The defending MAC regular season champions will square off against the Titans of Detroit, Aug. 14, at 5 p.m. on Scicluna Field before hosting Butler University on Saturday, Aug. 16, with first touch scheduled for 4 p.m.
