Valente Signs With Frontier League Team Out of Joliet

Brian Valente earned a contract with the Joliet Slammers after his senior season

JOLIET, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) -- Recent Eastern Michigan University graduate and right-handed starting pitcher, Brian Valente (Macomb, Mich.-Eisenhower (Saginaw Valley State)), has signed a professional contract with the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League.

Valente is coming off a senior year, where he posted a 1-4 record with a 3.78 ERA. The Macomb, Mich. native struck out 33 batters while walking just 13 over 52.1 innings pitched. The redshirt-senior appeared in 17 games, starting six of them. He held opponents to a .263 batting average in his final season donning the Green and White.

Valente joins a Joliet team that is 11-16 in the Frontier League thus far in the Summer 2013 season. The Slammers are 7.5 games back in the race for the league's West Division title. Their next game is scheduled for  Wednesday, June 19, when they travel to Evansville, Ind. to take on the Evansville Otters at Bosse Field.
