Midori Harrison will transfer back to the Midwest from South Florida
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team adds another to its ranks as Midori Harrison (Euclid, Ohio-Beaumont (South Florida)) has accepted EMU athletic aid to play for Head Volleyball Coach Kim Berrington this upcoming season after spending her first year at the University of South Florida, where she played in four matches for the Bulls.
Harrison, an outside hitter, was a four-year varsity starter at Beaumont School under head coach Patrick Royer. She earned the area's Most Valuable Player award according to the Sun Press News and was a News Herald first team selection. She was named to the Under Armour All America Watch List during her senior year, while being named the Ohio High School Athletic Association District II's Most Valuable Player. She earned First Team All-North Coast League honors after averaging 12.6 kills, 3.27 digs and 2.36 blocks per set in her senior campaign. During her junior season, Harrison was named Beaumont's Offensive Player of the Year and was a News Herald First Team All-Star. Throughout her high school career, the Euclid, Ohio native was named to multiple all-tournament teams and played at many USA Volleyball camps and training centers.
Harrison is not only a talent on the court, but in the classroom as well. Although she is undecided on a major at EMU, she was in multiple academic honors clubs in high school. She was nominated to the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, while also serving in the community as well. She worked with the Hospice of the Western Reserve and the elementary school community outreach programs to give back.
Harrison comes from a long line of talented collegiate athletes. Her father, J. Jeffrey Ward, played basketball at Manhattan College, while her uncle, Herb Harrison II, was a basketball player at Marquette University and her cousin, Herb Harrison III, was on the basketball team at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
