YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis program's 2013 recruiting class received strong consideration to be in the Mid-Major Top 25 recruiting class list according to TennisRecruiting.net. The Eagles bring in Maria Paula Ribero (Bucaramanga, Colombia) who is a top notch tennis player coming to Ypsilanti all the way from Columbia.
Ribero ranked as high as No. 1,022 in singles and No. 944 in doubles in the World Professional Rankings by the Women's Tennis Association. Her best result came in 2010 when she was a finalist in doubles, while making it to the quarter finals in singles action while playing in an Interantional Tennis Federation tournament in Caracas, Venezuela.
"Maria Paula brings a very athletic game, with a good amount of international junior, and professional experience, to the EMU tennis program," said EMU Head Tennis Coach Ryan Ray. "She will help give us one of the deepest lineups of talent I have had since arriving at EMU. She possesses great doubles skills, which will be a huge asset to the team."
Eastern has been extremely successful in recent years recruiting top-quality tennis talent. In 2011, the Eagles' recruiting class ranked No. 17-overall nationall among Mid-Major institutions, while 2012's class brought on Klara Supejova (Prague, Czech Republic) who won both Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year in the Mid-American Conference.
