Two Former Eagles Sign as Undrafted Free Agents

Garrett Hoskins inks with the Cleveland while Andy Mulumba heads to Green Bay
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Despite not hearing their names called in the National Football League's Draft, a pair of Eastern Michigan University football signed Undrafted Free Agents (UDFA) contracts with NFL organizations.
Tight end Garrett Hoskins (Grand Rapids, Mich.-Creston) hooked on with the Cleveland Browns while defensive lineman Andy Mulumba (Montreal, Quebec, Canada-Vieux Montreal) is headed to the Green Bay Packers.
Hoskins, a 2012 All-Mid-American Conference Second Team selection, played in all 12 games in 2012, leading the team in catches with 38 receptions for 542 yards and three touchdowns. His three touchdowns ranked second most among the All-MAC tight end nominees.
Named 2012 First Team All-MAC by Phil Steele, Hoskins finished with an average of 14.3 yards per catch. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native was named the John Mackey Tight End of the Week, Oct. 24, after recording seven receptions for 158 yards and a touchdown in a 48-38 victory over Army, Oct. 20. He finished his career with 74 catches for 1,135 yards and eight touchdowns.
Mulumba, a 2012 All-Mid-American Conference Second Team selection, started all 12 games for the Eagles in 2012 and 31 in his career. The Montreal, Quebec native had 73 tackles (27 solo, 46 assists) to go along with seven quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery. He finished second on the team with 7.0 tackles for a loss of 25 yards.
A first time All-MAC honoree, Mulumba had a career-best 11 tackles and three hurries against Central Michigan, Nov. 10. He finished his career with 48 games played to go along with 156 tackles (59 solo, 97 assists) and 18.0 tackles-for-loss.
The Eagles, who retained the Michigan MAC trophy following a 29-23 victory over Western Michigan, Nov. 17, finished nationally in the top--75 in five statistical categories to go along with a pair of top-five rankings in the MAC standings.
Offensively, Eastern Michigan rushed for 1,960 yards and 13 touchdowns on 448 carries for the 61st-best ground attack in the nation. The Eagles have now rushed for more than 1,900 yards in each of the past three seasons. Defensively, EMU ranked 38th nationally and third in the MAC in pass defense. The Eagles gave up just 212.75 yards per game. Additionally, the team ranked 21st nationally in net punting with an average of 39.35 yards per kick.
