Ejigu Earns Second Straight MVP as EMU Finishes Fourth at MAC's

The Eagles put 11 athletes on the All-MAC teams after taking fourth in Mount Pleasant
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team placed fourth in the 2012 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships after scoring 128 points in three days of competition. Akron University took first as it accumulated 171 points. Terefe Ejigu was named the Most Valuable Performer at the 2012 Outdoor Championships. He earned the same honor at the 2012 Indoor Championships earlier this year and it was his second straight year being named the outdoor MVP as well.
On the final day of competition, Ejigu added another first-place crown to his arsenal by winning the 5,000-meter run in 15:11.38, while Donald Scott added a first place finish in the triple jump after leaping 51-feet and five-inches. The Eagles placed third in the 4x100-meter relay with a 41.34 finish, and second in the 4x400-meter relay with a 3:14.44 time. Cole Sanseverino and Grzegorz Kalinowski went 1-2 in the 1,500-meter run with 3:49.54 and 3:50.26 finishes. Chris Scott took sixth in the 400-meter and Joshua George took the top-spot in the 800-meter run with a 1:51.68.
The Eagles placed 11 members on All-MAC teams as Ejigu, Sanseverino, Donald Scott and George earned first team honors while Daryl Smith, Harry Dixon, Bolton, Chris Hall, Saunders, Chris Scott and Kalinowski garnered second team honors.

On the final day of competition, Ejigu added another first-place crown to his arsenal by winning the 5,000-meter run in 15:11.38, while Donald Scott added a first place finish in the triple jump after leaping 51-feet and five-inches. The Eagles placed third in the 4x100-meter relay with a 41.34 finish, and second in the 4x400-meter relay with a 3:14.44 time. Cole Sanseverino and Grzegorz Kalinowski went 1-2 in the 1,500-meter run with 3:49.54 and 3:50.26 finishes. Chris Scott took sixth in the 400-meter and Joshua George took the top-spot in the 800-meter run with a 1:51.68.
