BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com)- The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team dropped its season finale, March 17, to the Falcons of Bowling Green University, 193.675-190.950.
With the loss, Eastern falls to 10-9, 2-4 MAC, while Bowling Green improves to 2-12, 1-5 MAC.
In true fashion, freshman Anna Willette (Pylesville, Md.-North Harford) led the Eagles on the vault placing second, matching her season-high 9.800. Fellow freshman Paulina Miller (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada-Citadel High School) followed behind Willette scoring a season-best 9.550, good for fifth place.
Willette continued to pace the Green and White on the uneven parallel bars recording a 9.725. Senior Stacie Wood (Brantford, Ont.-Brantford Collegiate Institute) and sophomore Taylor Patterson (Xenia, Ohio-Xenia) tied for fourth, earning a 9.650.
Junior Brittany Cassar (Kings Park, N.Y.-Kings Park) was EMU's top gymnast on the balance beam recording a 9.600 and a fourth place finish. Senior Tracie Tamashiro (Honolulu, Hawaii-Kalani) tallied a 9.550 giving her a fifth place finish.
Senior Kristen Yourick (Albuquerque, N.M.-La Cueva) earned the top spot for her performance on the floor exercise, recording a 9.825. Sophomore Shawna Ciaramella (Hamilton, Ont.-St. Mary CSS) and Wood tallied a 9.750 giving them a fourth place tie.
The Green and White are back in action when traveling to DeKalb, Ill. to compete at the Mid-American Conference Championships. Competition is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
