Eagles Conclude Regular Season at Bowling Green

Gymnastics travels to Bowling Green, Ohio for final meet

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)
- The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team will travel to Bowling Green, Ohio to take on the Falcons of Bowling Green State University, March 17. The meet will mark the final regular season contest for both teams before heading to the Mid-American Conference Championships. The first event is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

LAST SEASON: The Eagles registered a 189.550-185.750 victory over BGSU, Feb. 12, 2011. Nikole Viltz led the Eagles finishing first on both the vault and floor exercise posting scores of 9.725 and 9.675, respectfully. She also helped the Green and White by recording a 9.175 finishing tied for sixth with fellow teammate Miranda Jarvis. Jarvis also finished just below Viltz on the vault posting a 9.675, coming in second and recorded a 9.500 on the floor exercise earning a fourth place finish. Ashley Quinton had a solid showing posting a season best 9.625 on the uneven parallel bars finishing tied for first with BGSU's Amber Brewer and Stacie Wood. Shawna Ciaramella and Jessica Perdoch both recorded career highs on the balance beam finishing first and fourth earning a 9.450 and 9.350, respectively.

FLIP FOR PINK:  The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team raised over $1,300 at its annual “Go Pink” meet, Saturday, March 10. The Green and White raised money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation to help contribute to the research of finding a cure for breast cancer.

NINTH ANNUAL EAGLE INVITATIONAL: The EMU women's gymnastics team found a great way to salute Head Coach Steve Wilce on his 30th year of coaching with a strong performance to go 3-0 on the night Saturday, March 10, in the Convocation Center in the 9th Annual Eagle Invitational. With a large group of former gymnasts in attendance, the Eagles turned in a team score of 193.850 to 192.250 for Air Force, 192.075 for Northern Illinois and 190.725 for Temple. Anna Willette tied for third with a 9.700 score on the vault and on beam, the trio of Brittany Cassar, Kaylee Meyers and Willette tied for second with 9.800 scores.

UP NEXT: The Green and White travel to DeKalb, Ill. to compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships. Competition is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
