Eagles raise over $1,300 at annual "Go Pink" meet

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)- The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team raised over $1,300 at its annual “Go Pink” meet, Saturday, March 10.

EMU raised money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation to help contribute to the research of finding a cure for breast cancer.

The Eagles compiled a season-high team score, 193.850, en route to a first place finish at the meet. The Green and White defeated Northern Illinois University, Air Force Academy and Temple University. Eastern was led by freshman Anna Willette (Pylesville, Md.-North Harford) who tied for first on the uneven parallel bars recording a 9.800.

“We are proud to be partnering with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and I am glad our team will have the opportunity to contribute to the research of finding a cure,” said EMU Head Gymnastics Coach Steve Wilce. “We all know someone who has been impacted by cancer in some way, shape, or form, and I am extremely proud of the work our team has done for this event.”

The Eagles travel to Bowling Green, Ohio to take on the Falcons of Bowling Green State University in the regular season finale, March 17. Competition is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
