Freshman phenom earns first weekly award
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- The Mid-American Conference office announced that Eastern Michigan University men's track athlete freshman runner Brycen Spratling was named MAC Track Athlete of the Week. It was the first time in his career that he earned such an honor.
Spratling picked up where he left off after capturing MAC gold during the indoor season, in winning his first collegiate outdoor 400-meter dash with a time of 47.89. He also took second place in the 200-meter dash, narrowly missing out on the win (.07 seconds separated first and second place) as he crossed the finish line in 21.79. Spratling also teamed with three other Eagles as the quartet won the 4x100-meter dash with a time of 41.11.
His contributions helped the Eagles finish third at their season-opening meet at the Toledo Collegiate Challenge.
