It is the fifth time he has earned the honor

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- For the fifth time in his collegiate career, Clint Allen (Muskegon, Mich.-Orchard View) was named the Mid-American Conference's Track Athlete of the Week, as decided upon by the conference's governing bodies.

Allen was the lone Eagle to run at the Texas Relays, where hundreds of the nation's top athletes competed in the annual showcase. Allen finished 13th in the 100-meter dash with a conference-best time of 10.39 in the event. No other athlete in the MAC has posted a better time since the 2006 season when Johnie Drake of Central Michigan ran a 10.14 (4-15-06) and Marc Johnson of Kent State posted a time of 10.38 (5-26-06).

This was one of Allen's top times during his collegiate career, but it did not top his best speed of 10.28 (third all-time in school history) when the then-sophomore won the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State University on May 3, 2008. Conincidently, that was the last time Allen had won the MAC Track Athlete of the Week award.

The Eagles will continue their quest to repeat as Outdoor MAC Champions when they compete April 16 in Gainsville, Fla. at the Florida Invitational.
