Abraham, L. Quaintance, Elcock, Hemingway and Wishart make the list
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - For their efforts in helping secure the Women's Track and Field 2011 Indoor Mid-American Conference Championship, five Eastern Michigan University women's track and field athletes were named to the All-MAC team.
Ashlee Abraham and Lauren Quaintance each earned All-MAC First Team honors. Abraham won the 60-meter dash, setting a MAC meet record with a time of 7.34. She also won the 200-meter dash for EMU. Quaintance posted a win in the 800-meter run, finishing just ahead of teammate and All-MAC Second Team honoree Beverly Elcock. The two led the race from wire to wire before a final push from Quaintance led her to the win.
Two field athletes also earned spots on the All-MAC Second Team, as freshman Shnell Wishart placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 41-00.50, and senior pole vaulter Jessica Hemingway was second in the that event, clearing a height of 13-03.50.
Coach Sue Parks was also awarded the MAC Coach of the Year. It was her first time receiving the award as a coach for EMU and her fifth award overall, having captured her previous four with Ball State where she coached prior to her tenure at EMU.
