EMU Announces 2011 Football Schedule

Eagles to host six games for the first time since the 2004 campaign

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Six home games and a pair of visits to Big Ten Conference foes Michigan and Penn State highlight the 2011 football schedule released by the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics today, Feb. 28.
The Eagles will open their 120th season on the gridiron Saturday, Sept. 3, at Rynearson Stadium against Howard University. EMU then hosts Alabama State University, Sept. 10, before making trips to Michigan, Sept. 17, and Penn State, Sept. 24.
Eastern Michigan then returns home to host the University of Akron in its 36th Mid-American Conference opener Saturday, Oct. 1. Two MAC road games will follow - at the University of Toledo, Oct. 8, and at Central Michigan, Oct. 15.
A three-game home stand then awaits Head Coach Ron English's crew with games against Western Michigan University, Oct. 22, Ball State University, Nov. 5, and the home finale against the University at Buffalo, Nov. 12. The Green and White close out the 2011 campaign on the road at Kent State University, Nov. 19, and Northern Illinois University, Nov. 25.
The regular season will conclude with the 14th Marathon MAC Football Championship game Friday, Dec. 2, at 8 p.m. at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich. on ESPN2. This will mark the eighth Marathon MAC Football Championship game at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions, Super Bowl XL, and the 2009 NCAA Men's Final Four.
Game times and television appearances will be released at a later date.
