Eleven Eagles Earn NACGC/W Academic Honors

The Eagles earned a team GPA of 3.38
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced the completion of its 2010 Scholastic All America Award winners and National Academic Champions, and the Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team had a total of 11 gymnasts earn All America honors.
The NACGC/W is the national association for women's collegiate gymnastics coaches. The association seeks to actively manage and develop the sport of women's gymnastics at the collegiate level and works with the NCAA and USA Gymnastics in order to provide the best possible experience for student-athletes.
A total of 67 student-athletes earned 4.0 GPAs for the 2010 academic year while 509 earned Scholastic All America status, which is achieved as a result of GPAs of 3.5 or better for the year.
Sophomore Stacie Wood (Brantford, Ontario-Brantford Collegiate Inst.) tallied a 4.0 GPA to help the Eagles earn a team GPA of 3.38. Wood recorded a season best 9.65 on the vault at the Eagle Invitational, Feb. 7 and also versus Central Michigan University, Jan. 1, with a 9.675 on the uneven bars.
Senior Erin Grigg (North Bay, Ontario-Widdlfield) recorded a 3.97 GPA. Grigg, an Academic All-Mid-American Conference selection, was named the MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week March 22, for the third time in her career, and MAC Gymnast of the Week, Feb. 16. Grigg tallied a season best 38.65 all-around score against CMU, Jan. 1.
Also receiving honors were junior Jessica Perdoch (Reading, Pa.-Exeter Township) and freshman Camille Cicchini (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.-Royal Palm Beach Community) recording GPAs of 3.95 and 3.93 respectively. Perdoch tallied a season best 9.55 on the vault at the Eagle Invitational, Feb. 2. Cicchini recorded a season best 9.55 on the uneven bars versus CMU, Jan. 1.
