Both named second-team in District 14

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Eastern Michigan University redshirt junior forward Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) and senior point guard Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) were selected second-team All-District 14 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for the 2009-10 season.

For Medlock, the NABC honor was the latest in a long list of accomplishments for the 6-foot guard. He was a second-team All-Mid-American Conference selection this year and was also named to the FirstEnergy MAC All-Tournament Team after turning in a spectacular performance in the tournament quarterfinal game against Akron, hitting 13-of-26 field goals, 5-of-14 three pointers, and 11-of-12 free throws for 42 points while hauling down eight rebounds, adding three assists and two steals and playing 48 minutes. His 42 points broke the EMU record for most points in a MAC Tournament game held by Earl Boykins who had 35 points (March 3, 1998 vs. Ball State). Medlock's 11 made free throws broke Boykins' EMU tourney mark of 10 set, March 5, 1996 against Kent State.

For the year, Medlock led the Eagles in scoring (16.9), three pointers made (75), free throws made (173) assists (121) and steals (50) while playing 35.2 minutes per game for the Eagles, 17-15 overall and 8-8 in MAC play, good for a tie for second in the West Division. He finished his career as the sixth-leading scorer in EMU history (1,574), the second-leading three-point shooter (213), the third-leading free-throw shooter (465), the sixth-leading assist man (400), and tied for 56th in career rebounds (327). Medlock played in 109 games, starting 108 times.

The 6-foot-6 Bowdry earned second-team honors by the MAC and the NABC after finishing second on the EMU squad in scoring (16.3) and first in rebounding (10.0). He led the MAC in rebounding and is currently fifth in scoring for the 2009-10 season.

The 6-foot-6 Bowdry enters his senior season in 2010-11 ranked 17th in the EMU record book in scoring (1,258), 8th in rebounding (722) and 13th in free throws (298). He has played in 96 games for the Eagles, starting 88 times during his career.
