Junior infielder Zack Leonard garners first MAC accolade of the season

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University junior infielder Zack Leonard (Canton, Ohio-McKinley) has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced Thursday, March 11.

Leonard had an impressive week for the Eagles in five games last week, as he went 11-for-23 (.478) at the dish with five doubles and one home run to go along with four runs scored and 12 RBI. In three games against a previously unbeaten Belmont squad, March 5-6, Leonard went 9-for-15 with five doubles and a home run, including a grand slam against the Bruins, March 5. Leonard finished the week with an .826 slugging percentage and he currently leads the Eagles with a .370 batting average.

The EMU baseball team is back in action tomorrow when they play Michigan State University at noon in Jacksonville, Ala. before beginning a three-game set with Jacksonville State University.
