Fundraising event to benefit Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University Athletics is teaming up with Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan, the council serving central Michigan, for a fundraiser during the women's basketball home game against the University of Akron, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m.
Girl Scouts and their families are invited to attend the game for $3. For every $3 ticket purchased, EMU will donate $1 to the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan.
“Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan believes that girls can lead anywhere – on the basketball court, in school, in life. That's why we are happy to be teaming up with EMU Athletics for Girl Scout Day at EMU, a chance for Girl Scouts and their families to enjoy an EMU women's basketball game,” said Jan Barker, CEO of Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan. “Thanks to EMU Athletics for their support of Girl Scouting.”
During the game, individual troops from Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan will participate in a challenge to create the best EMU fan banner. The troops will be judged on the creativity of their banner as well as their enthusiasm during the game. The top two troops will be allowed to sell Girl Scout cookies at an upcoming men's basketball game.
In addition, Girl Scouts will participate in EMU's Fan Tunnel program where they will cheer on the team from court-level as the starting lineup is announced. They will also receive a discounted concession coupon good for a hot dog, chips and a drink for $4.
The first 500 fans to enter the arena will receive Eagle Nation spirit poms. Autograph opportunities with the women's basketball team will also be available after the game.
