YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Former Eastern Michigan University men's cross country/track and field runner Josh Karanja (Ottawa, Canada-Nepean) has been selected to represent Canada in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in the 2009 Jeux de la Francophonie Championships in Beirut, Lebanon.
An All-American last season in track, Karanja will train with EMU men's cross country head coach John Goodridge leading up to the event, which runs from Sept. 6 through Oct. 27 in Beirut.
Karanja also claimed the Mid-American Conference individual title last season in cross country and helped the Eagles collect their fourth consecutive MAC team championship. The Eagles have won 14 MAC team titles since 1972 – the most by any MAC institution during that time frame.
