YPSILANTI, Mich. — The Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics will be the presenting sponsor of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan Huron Valley Club in Ypsilanti "Score for Kids Jamboree" Saturday, Aug. 1, here at the Huron Valley Club, 220 North Park St.
The fourth annual "Score for Kids Jamboree" includes a day-long series of basketball tournaments for club members, dance lessons, face painting, soccer, food and music followed by a reception, dinner and awards ceremony. The event is a great opportunity for sponsors to meet and interact with club kids, tour club facilities, and learn about the wide-range of youth development programs offered to the more than 1,180 kids the club serves each year.
Assisting in the day-long events will be members of the EMU men’s and women’s basketball teams who will be on hand to offer tips on basketball and encourage youngsters to participate in all of the events. The festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. For the EMU men’s team it will be their fourth consecutive jamboree while the women’s team will be volunteering for the third straight year.

"A University is only as strong as its local community and we are honored to be able to give back to the Ypsilanti area by supporting the ‘Score for Kids Jamboree.’ I also salute our men’s and women’s basketball student-athletes who have volunteered to assist the youth of Ypsilanti at this event and I know that their presence will have a positive impact on them as well as the children that are participating."
Score for Kids sponsorships are available at five levels. The MVP level ($1,000) sponsors four teams and two children for an entire year and also includes eight lunches and All Access tickets. The Dream Team ($500) level sponsors two teams and one child for an entire year and also includes four lunches and All Access tickets. The All Star level ($250) sponsors one team and one child for six months and includes fourth lunches and All Access tickets. The Hot Shot level ($125) sponsors one player and one child for three months and includes two lunches an All Access tickets. The Sharp Shooter level is designed for anyone that is unable to attend the "Score for Kids Jamboree" but would still like to make a contribution to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan Huron Valley Club. MVP and Dream Team sponsors will receive special recognition at the dinner.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the BGCSM Huron Valley Club.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan provide children ages 6-18 a safe place to participate in a variety of educational and recreational programs including: Character and Leadership Development; Health and Life Skills; Education and Career Development; Arts and Cultural Appreciation; Sports, Fitness and Recreation; and more.
