Former EMU Football Player Jamie Manor Killed in Accident
On duty with the Las Vegas Police Department when he was in a fatal car crash

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Jamie Manor (MAN-er), a two-year letterman for the Eastern Michigan University football team from 2002-03, was killed in a two-car accident here Thursday morning, May 7, while responding to a domestic violence call in western Las Vegas as an officer with the Las Vegas Police Department. He was 28 years old. He is survived by his mother, Linda, his daughter, Jayla, five brothers and six sisters. His father, Willie, preceded him in death.

A native of Las Vegas, Manor joined the EMU football team in 2002 after transferring from Antelope Valley (Calif.) Junior College. He earned two letters while playing in 24 games, starting 21 times, in his two seasons on the Eagles' football squad. Manor recorded 137 career tackles with two interceptions and six tackles-for-loss of 29 yards at a linebacker spot. He was one of four co-captains for the 2003 Eagles.

Manor was a standout high school football player here at Clark H.S. in Las Vegas where he was named the Southern Nevada Player of the Year and his team's Most Valuable Player as a senior.

After graduating from Clark, Manor attended Antelope Valley J.C. in Lancaster, Calif, where he was a second-team All-Conference player and one of the captains on the team in his sophomore season.

The Police Employees Assistance Program, created by the late Sheriff John Moran, is assisting officers, the family and anyone else who is dealing with Manor's death.
