Senior qualifies in 200 freestyle
YPSILANTI, Mich.- Eastern Michigan senior swimmer Alissa Ricard (Tucson, Ariz.-Catalina Foothills) has been selected to participate in the 2009 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving National Championship in the 200 freestyle. The meet is scheduled for March 19-21 at Texas A&M University.
Ricard, a first team All-MAC selection for the second consecutive season, won the 200 freestyle at the Mid-American Conference Championship with a time of 1:46.23. Her time was an NCAA 'B' time, allowing her to take one of the 46 slots available in the 200 free. Ricard's time is rated as the 34th best in the country entering the competition.
The senior will represent the Eagles at the national meet, marking the second consecutive season that the Green and White have been present at the meet. In 2008, Madeleine Pilchard finished 11th in the 200 free and 13th in the 100 free to lead EMU to a 38th place showing.
The NCAA Championship will take place March 19-21 at the Student Recreation Center Natatorium on the campus of Texas A&M University.
