YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) –
Eastern Michigan University Head Baseball Coach Jay Alexander has announced that the Eagles will host the first annual First Pitch Dinner Saturday, Jan. 23, at the EMU Student Center Ballroom.

Tickets for the event are $125 per person and seating is limited. Single tables are also available for $1,000 (8 seats).

“We would like to invite all of the alumni, family, friends, and supporters of EMU baseball to come out to our First Pitch Dinner,” Alexander said. “We are starting a new tradition within our program for a kickoff event at the beginning of the year.”

The event will help the EMU baseball team fund its spring trips as well as other projects to help enhance the team's performance throughout the season.

Detroit Tigers Manager Jim Leyland will be the dinner's keynote speaker. Leyland led the Tigers to the American League Championship and World Series in 2006 and has been named the Major League Baseball Manager of the Year three times in his career. In 1997, Leyland led the Florida Marlins to the World Series title.
