The EMU rowing squad is hoping to attract potentials to join team

YPSILANTI, Mich., (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University Head Rowing Coach, Brad Holdren, announced Monday that he will hold open-interest meetings to fill positions on the 2010 rowing squad.

The meetings will be held Monday, Nov. 23, and Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 3 p.m. each day in the bleachers of Bowen Field House, just above the indoor track. Those interested will only need to attend one of the two meetings. The informational will cover expectations of student-athletes and gauge the interest of potential candidates. It will also serve to inform potential athletes of the schedule of a collegiate level rower, and all paperwork with regards to NCAA compliance will also be completed.

Coach Holdren urges all female, full-time students at EMU to come out and see what the program has to offer.

"Rowing is the only collegiate sport that you can really walk on to with no previous experience in the sport. You can learn it really easily and work at it to get better, potentially earning a scholarship."

The team is near the completion of its fall season, having competed at Illinois with another meet this coming Saturday in Tennessee.

The spring season of rowing begins in March, but the practice season begins in January. For more information, contact Coach Holdren at bholdren@emich.edu.
