YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University men’s swimmer, freshman Jacob Hanson, has earned Mid-American Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week honors announced by the MAC office Wednesday morning, Nov. 18.
Hanson earned the award after a stellar weekend in the pool despite a 190-124 loss to Purdue University Nov. 13-14. The native of Bloomington, Ill. recorded two first place and two second place finishes in the two-day dual meet against the Boilermakers. Hanson pulled in victories in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:01.42 and in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 50.70. His times in both events are MAC-bests so far this year.
He also helped the 200-yard medley relay team to a time of 1:33.96 and 800-yard freestyle relay team finish in 7:00.25. Both were second place finishes and fastest times to date in the MAC this year as well.
Hanson and the Eagles will be back in action Dec. 4-5 when Eastern Michigan hosts the annual EMU Invitational at Jones Natatorium.
