Gymnastics Inks Two in Early Signing Period

Head Coach Steve Wilce announces two early signees for 2011

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University head gymnastics coach Steve Wilce has announced two recruits have signed the National Letter of Intent for the early signing period in November. Wilce announced Miranda Jarvis (Westminster, Md.-Westminster) and Ashley Quinton (Calgary, Alberta-Bishop McNally) will attend EMU and compete for the gymnastics team next year.

 

Jarvis is a fourth year level 10 gymnast at Hills Gymnastics. In level 9 in 2006, she was the Maryland state champion and first place regional qualifier for all age groups. She qualified for nationals in her first year of level 10 (2007) by placing fifth all-around at regionals. In 2008, she was the regional all-around runner-up, but was injured at nationals. In 2009, Jarvis qualified for NIT where she placed first overall on bars and beam. She maintains a 3.5 GPA and enjoys animals and friends and has accumulated well over 100 community service hours.

 

Quinton has competed at four Canadian Championships as a high performance athlete. Most recently, she placed ninth all-around as senior high performance at Canadian Championship. Quinton also made beam and bar event finals, finishing eighth and fifth, respectively. Quinton has also competed at four Elite Canada's gaining high performance status each time.

 

The EMU gymnastics team begins action with the Green and White Meet, which is set for Friday, Dec. 18, at Warner Gymnasium.
