Men's Golf Closes Out the Fall in 10th at Aldila Scenic City Invite

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (EMUEagles.com) – Senior Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline) carded an even-par 72, and junior Brad Larente (Cambridge, Ontario-Hespeler Secondary) shot a two-over 74, to lead the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team at the Aldila Scenic City Invitational on the par-72 Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga Tenn., Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 27. Jeppesen finished in a tie for 13th place (71-71-74=214) to claim top honors for the Eagles.

Larente posted a tie for 28th place finish for EMU with a score of 220 (73-73-74). Senior Cam Burke (Baden, Ontario-Waterloo Secondary) turned in a round of 74 on the final day of competition for Eastern to tie for 36th with a 222 (74-74-74). Junior Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) tallied a score of 77 on Tuesday to tie for 47th with a 224 (76-71-77). Senior Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) rounded out the lineup with rounds of 76, 71 and 79 for a tie for 51st place.

Middle Tennessee State won the tournament with a score of 851 (287-286-278), edging Wichita State by three shots. Southern Mississippi took third with an overall score of 862, while Furman finished fourth with a score of 863. The Eagles finished 10th of 17 teams with a total score of 877 (294-286-297).

The Eagles will now put their clubs away for a few months before returning to the links March 5-7, 2009, at the annual Ron Smith/USF Invitational in Dade City, Fla.
