FOR THE 45TH TIME
: The 2008-09 season marks the 45th season for men's swimming and diving at Eastern Michigan University. Throughout the years, EMU has won 27 Mid-American Conference Championships, four NAIA Championships and was the NCAA Division II National Champion in 1972. Arguably one of the most successful programs at EMU, the Eagles have only had three head coaches during their history. Bill Lewis began the program in 1964 before giving way to Mike Jones in 1968. Peter Linn has been at the helm of EMU swimming and diving since the 1988 season, leading the Eagles to 17 of the past 20 MAC titles.

ABOUT THE REDHAWKS: Miami University enter's this weekend's meet with a 3-6 overall record and a 1-0 MAC mark. Most recently, MU knocked off Buffalo, 131-101, to pick up its first conference win of the season. The Eagles have not lost to Miami in a dual meet since the 1995-96 season when the RedHawks recorded a 127-114 win. Miami will have one MAC meet remaining after this weekend, hosting Ball State, Feb. 6, before the annual championship meet.

BACK TO THE MAC: The Eagles close out the regular season with two consecutive Mid-American Conference meets. Before last Saturday's meet against Ball State, the Eagles had not faced a MAC opponent since Nov. 7. The Eagles picked up a win at Ball State and now welcome Miami University to Jones Natatorium, Jan. 31, for the last meet of the regular season. EMU will head to Nashville, Tenn. for the MAC Championships, Feb. 19-21.

KISH NAMED SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: For the second time this season, an Eastern Michigan swimmer was named MAC swimmer of the week. Senior Dan Kish earned the honor for the first time in his career after helping the Eagles to a 2-0 weekend with wins over Wayne State and Ball State. Against the Warriors, Kish won the 200 and 500 freestyle races while helping the 400 medley relay team to a victory. When the Eagles traveled to Ball State, Kish won the 1,000 free while finishing third in the 100 free.

PERFECT WEEKEND FOR GREEN AND WHITE: The Eagles went 2-0 last weekend, first defeating Wayne State University, 164-79. WSU entered the meet as the No. 1 team in Division II and had previously squared up against the Eagles in the EMU Invitational. EMU then hit the road for Muncie, Ind., where the Eagles came away with a 125-107 win over the Ball State Cardinals. The win was EMU's 52nd consecutive dual meet win over a MAC opponent.

SENIOR DAY SET FOR SATURDAY: Saturday's home meet against Miami marks the final home meet for the Eagles of the 2008-09 season and the final home meet for nine seniors. The senior class of Ethan Crabtree, Don Ellison, Ryan Fulkerson, Matt Guinan, Dan Kish, Mark Kurtzer, Drew Little, Derick Roe and Adam Wohl has been a part of two MAC Championships and is 12-0 in MAC competition during the past four seasons. The group will be honored before the meet.

STAY LIVE WITH THE EAGLES: A new feature for the 2008-09 season will be the addition of live meet scoring for all home meets at Jones Natatorium. Go to EMUEagles.com to access the live scoring.
