T.J. Lang Chosen for All-Star Game

EL PASO, Texas — Eastern Michigan University senior football player T.J. Lang (Ferndale, Mich.-Birmingham Brother Rice) has been selected to play in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Game Saturday, Jan. 31, here at the Sun Bowl Stadium.

The game, sponsored by Western Refining, pits the top college players originally from the state of Texas or who played college football at a Division I-A university in Texas, against the top Division I-A players from the rest of the country.

This year’s game is the third annual and is scheduled to be television on CBS College Sports. The head coach of Lang’s The Nation team is Florida Atlantic University Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger while former collegiate head man Gene Stallings will be the head coach of the Texas squad. Game time is 1 p.m. (MST).

Lang, a 6-foot-4 1/2, 307-pound offensive tackle for the Eagles, was one of the most outstanding offensive linemen in school history. He played in 47 games during his career. Lang started in 36 games as an offensive tackle and one as a defensive tackle. He started every game in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons. He earned the Harold E. Sponberg Award, given annually to the top down lineman scholar-athlete, in 2008.

Lang began his collegiate career as a defensive tackle in 2005 as a true freshman and played in all 11 games that year, recording 11 tackles on the year.

He moved to the offensive line in 2006 and started all 12 games at right tackle. In 2007 he switched over to the offensive left tackle position and started all 12 games that season and all 12 in 2008.
