Eagles send groups to Sea Ray Relays and Spartan Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Eastern Michigan University women’s outdoor track and field participated in two separate meets this weekend, sending a three-member group to the Sea Ray Relays (Wednesday-Saturday) and another to the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich. Sophomore Janice Keppler (Medina, NY-Medina) notched the lone win of the day for the Eagles with a vault of 12-feet-9.5 inches in the pole vault at Sea Ray, marking her second straight victory.
Top-five finishers from the Spartan Invitational included freshman Cierra Farquharson (Pleasantville, NJ-Pleasantville), who placed third in the 400-meters (1:00.69), junior Porshia Pryor (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Ann Arbor Huron), who finished fourth in the 200-meters (:25.73), and sophomore Matie Cortin (Laval, France/Ambroise Paré), who took fifth place in the hammer throw with a toss of 153-feet-10 inches.
Both meets were non-scoring events.
The Eagles will return home next Saturday, Apr. 21, when they host the EMU Twilight at the Olds/Marshall Track (Rynearson Stadium). The meet will be an all day event.
