MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – Junior Melissa Green led the way for the Eagles at the 2007 Mid-American Conference cross country championships hosted by Central Michigan University. Ohio University won the race on the women's side, squeaking past the University of Akron, 56-58. The Eagles finished 11th with 286 points.
Green earned second team All-MAC honors for the first time in her career. She finished the 5,000-meter course in a time of 18:11, a collegiate personal-best.
Senior Kalli Williams was next for the Eagles. She finished the race in 60th place with a time of 19:27. Behind her was Lauren Quaintance, finishing 63rd in a time of 19:33. Megan Flewelling finished 75th in a time of 20:11. Rounding out the top five was newcomer Beverly Elcock. Running in her first meet of the season, she finished the race in a time of 20:12, good for 76th place.
The final two across the line for the Green and White were Morgan Newman (77; 20:16) and Anna Delcamp (84; 21:17).
The Eagles head to NCAA Great Lakes Regional, hosted by Indiana University in two weeks on Saturday, Nov. 10.
