Women's Indoor Track Fourth At Bowling Green Invitational
Eagles struggle in the five-team event

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio– The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team travled to Ohio Saturday to compete in the Bowling Green State University Invitational. The Eagles placed fourth out of five teams overall, totaling 53.50 points. Western Michigan University won the meet with a score of 180.
Junior Kalli Williams (Dexter, Mich.- Dexter) was the only Eagle in the competition to claim a first place finish, winning the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:14.66. Williams also turned in a thrid place finish in the 1600-meter run, posting a time of 5:12.83.
The Eagles also had strong finishes in several other track events. Freshman Cierra Farquharson (Pleasantville, NJ- Pleasantville) placed second in the 600-meter run (1:38.80) and junior Andrea Wheeler (Suffolk, VA- Lakeland) placed second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.87). In the 4x400 meter relay, the Eagles took fourth place out of nine teams.
In field events, sophomore Janice Keppler (Medina, NY- Medina) finished second overall in the pole vault competition (12-feet-5.5 inches) and Wheeler placed sixth in the long jump (17-feet-8 inches).
The Eagles will be in action again next Saturday, Jan. 20, when they travel to Ann Arbor for the Red Simmons Invitational. That meet will begin at 11a.m.
