THREE EMU MEN HEAD TO NCAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS: Three Eastern Michigan University men's track team members will travel to Sacramento, Calif., June 7-10, to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the A.G. Spanos Sports Complex.

The three Eagles made the NCAA field after placing in the top five places in individual events at the NCAA Mid-East Regional Championships, May 26-27, in Knoxville, Tenn.

Redshirt junior Corey Nowitzke (Monroe, Mich.-Monroe), junior high jumper Adam Kring (Jeddo, Mich.-Port Huron Northern) and junior David Adamek (Ridgeway, Ontario, Canada-Ridgeway Crystal Beach) will take their talents to the next level at the NCAA Championships. Nowitzke finished fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 8:49.39 to finish fourth at the regionals. Kring turned in a season's best leap of 6-feet-11 inches to tie for third in the high jump and Adamek threw the shot put 60-feet-1 inch to finish third in regional action.

EAGLES 15th AT NCAA MIDEAST REGIONALS: The Eastern Michigan University men's outdoor track team put the finishing touches on the two-day 2006 NCAA Mideast Regional Outdoor Track and Field Championships on the Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium, May 27, with several NCAA Championship-qualifying efforts.

For the EMU men a total of three individuals qualified for the NCAA Championships, set for June 7-10 in Sacramento, Calif., by finishing in the top five during the regional championship. The men's team finished the regional in 15th place with 17.5 points. A total of 46 teams scored in the men's meet.

A pair of field-event performers finished in the top five as both high jumper Adam Kring (Jeddo, Mich.-Port Huron Northern) and shot putter David Adamek (Ridgeway, Ontario, Canada-Ridgeway Crystal Beach) qualified for the NCAA Championship with Kring finishing tied for third in the high jump with a season's best effort of 6-feet-11 inches. Adamek turned in a personal best of 60-feet-1 inch for a third place in the shot put.

Corey Nowitzke (Monroe, Mich.-Monroe) completed the qualifying for the Eagles by running a 8:49.39 clocking in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to finish fourth.

Sophomore Eric Alejandro (Pembroke Pines, Fla.-Flanagan) came up with an outstanding effort in the 400-meter hurdles to qualify for the regional finals, when he ran a :51.64 clocking, good for seventh. The top eight qualified for the finals. Alejandro did not fare as well in the finals, however, placing eighth in :51.87 to just miss qualifying for the NCAA championship.

Long jumper Edouard Joliveau (Mennecy, France-University Pierre/Marie Curie) finished 14th with a leap of 24-feet-1.5 inches to miss qualifying for the NCAA's.
